7 Things To Consider When Choosing Brake Pads For Your Tesla Model 3

The Tesla Model 3 is unique.  It has a variety of intelligent, user-friendly features that make it a joy to drive.  So, it makes sense that you want to keep yours in the best shape possible.  But how do you go about selecting the right brake pads for your Model 3?  Here’s a list of 7 things you should consider.

Safety

Safety should be your priority whenever selecting brake pads.  Quality brake pads will wear slowly to maintain their stopping efficiency longer.  Look for semi-metallic or ceramic brake pads for better performance.

Suitability

Next, look for brake pads designed specifically for electric vehicles (EVs).  EVs, like the Tesla Model 3, brake differently than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.  Because they are motor driven, they take advantage of regenerative braking.  This is when part of the braking power comes from the motor instead of the braking system.  It’s a great power-saving feature.  But it also affects the design of your EV brake pads.

Environment

The Tesla Model 3 produces almost no pollutants.  But, your brake pads might.  Brake dust is generated during normal braking.  And it can be a major source of pollution in heavy traffic areas.  Budget brake pads produce a significant quantity of brake dust which often contains heavy metals like lead and copper.  Look for brake pads that are not paint coated and do not contain lead or copper to reduce brake dust pollution.

Cost

Ironically, budget brake pads can end up costing you more in the long run.  The average driver puts 1,200 miles on their vehicle every month.  Over five years, that equates to at least four sets of budget brake pads or only two sets of a quality pad like NRS galvanized brake pads.  In some cases, that could save you up to $500.

Noise

The Tesla Model 3 is a very quiet ride.  It’s one of the things that you probably love about yours.  Your brake pads can either help or hinder that.  Adhesive holds most conventional brake pads together.  This glue breaks down with regular use.  This causes the brakes to vibrate which creates noise when you drive.  NRS brake pads use a hook system to secure the friction material of the pad to the backing.  This does not loosen over time.  This helps keep the brakes quiet throughout their lifespan.

Durability

Because of the regenerative braking system on the Tesla Model 3, the brake pads are more prone to corrosion as there is less heat to dissipate moisture build-up.  This can cause many brake pads to fail early.  Look for a galvanized brake pad, like NRS, which is naturally corrosion resistant.  This will keep your pads functioning longer, making them safer and more cost-effective.

Balance

There’s a lot to consider when choosing brake pads for your Tesla Model 3.  Few brake pads meet all the requirements.  How do you choose between them?  Luckily you don’t have to.  NRS galvanized brake pads check the box on all the above.  They are specifically designed for electric vehicles and are naturally corrosion resistant.  They are pollutant free and 100% recyclable.  They run quieter, stop faster, and last longer than competing brands.

NRS galvanized brakes are the best choice in brake pads for your Tesla Model 3.  Stop settling for second best and invest in a set today.
