You’ve been working hard to clean up your basement. Your brother-in-law offered to help, and he just arrived on time. Your cluttered basement will be empty in a few hours and look much bigger.
But you know what would make the job easier? If the dumpster you rented was as close as possible to the door, you would be going in and out of it most of the morning.
Slanted Driveways and Sloped Surfaces
If you put an empty bin on a slope, the bin can start to move around and fall down the slope. It is essential to remember when the ground might be frozen in winter, early spring, or late fall. During these times, it’s easy for the bin to move and things to slide out of it. Many roofing customers have had problems with their bins sliding down a slanted driveway. When putting materials into the bin, think about how all that weight will make the bin move more easily downhill.
Putting an empty bin on a slope is not a big deal. But if you start filling it with things, the slope can cause the container to move. It is essential to remember in winter, early spring, or late fall when there is a danger of the bin freezing or sliding down the slope. Many of our roofing customers have had this problem when they try to get rid of roofing materials by throwing them into a dumpster rental.
Someone Else’s Property
If your neighbor rented a dumpster and put it on your Property, it would not be a good idea. It is because you would not have control over what goes into the dumpster, and something hazardous or harmful happening to the dumpster would be your responsibility. When you rent a dumpster, it is well within your property lines.
City Streets
You can put a bin on the street in many municipalities in the United States for up to 24 hours without getting a permit. If you need it for longer, you will need to get a permit from the city hall, which usually costs very little. However, you may have to talk to your neighbors if you need to put it on the street on a weekend when city hall is closed. Explain what you are doing and ask them if they have any problems with it. If they don’t, you will be okay.
A customer only has a problem with their dumpster rental when the neighbor calls the police. The neighbor wasn’t given notice, so they called the police.
Soft Ground
Few people know what is underground on their Property. If you have an irrigation system, be careful when delivering your dumpster. You don’t want to damage any hidden sprinkler heads, underground plumbing, or controllers. You need to be aware of the location of your septic tank. It could be a big problem if it caves in under a dumpster!
