It’s time for another adventure outside of New Jersey. Let’s take a trip to the Cabela’s in Pennsylvania! Those of you who are rolling your eyes should stop. I am the farthest thing from an outdoorsman you can get. Let me be clear: I adore the outdoors.
To me, nothing beats a day spent exploring a new state park. Plants, trees, and wildlife are some of my favorite things in the world enjoying in Cabela’s black Friday. Neither camping nor hunting are activities that interest me. However, Cabela’s is awesome. Trust me,
SIMPLE TERMS, WHAT IS CABELA’S?
Cabela’s is a massive sporting goods, hunting, fishing, and outdoor shop with a convenient location off of Route 78 near Cabela’s Hamburg, Pennsylvania (among other places). Seek them out at this location).
Everything you might possibly need for your next camping trip, fishing expedition, or day hike is available at this store. However, this is more than a regular shop.
WHY SHOULD I VISIT CABELA’S, AND WHAT CAN I DO THERE?
Cabela’s offers more than just shopping, however. There’s a dining establishment on the premises (they offer a variety of hot and cold dishes, sandwiches, soups, and unusual deli meats- like boar).
- They’ve set up a Cabela’s Hamburg shooting gallery (not with real guns- these are the kind that shoot with laser, like they have in Disney World, the old saloon style). To make the figures on the screen move, you insert a coin and point your light at the objectives. I just don’t have much talent in that area of Cabela’s.
- A real fish pond serves as the backdrop for this photograph of a moose. A little machine accepts coins to provide fish food. That was incredibly entertaining for my young kid.
- Cabela’s is notable for housing a real, walk-through aquarium.
- There’s also a chamber filled with taxidermies wild creatures. My heart went out to them. I don’t know what happened, but it makes me sad to see them all stuck in place.
- Also, there is an entire chamber stuffed with provides the body corvid’s. But I’m sure they have a more appropriate name for it than “The Hall of Dead Deer,” which is what I’ve been calling it.
TIPS FROM A JERSEY MOM
- There are machines strewn over the shop where you may create custom pennies to take home as a memento of your visit.
- There are many more dining options in the area besides the Cabela’s Hamburg, such as a Cracker Barrel and a Red Robin, to mention just two.
- The city of Hamburg offers *plenty of entertainment options. If you’re looking for more places to see while you’re in the area, you should check out their website.
- I know others whose kids would love to spend a “Day out with Daddy” here. Then, Mom may do anything she likes.

Here’s what we thought of some places to eat within a mile of 100 Cabela Hamburg, PA 19526:
“I still include Four Twelve among my favorite breakfast spots in the area. They manage to be both stylish and homey in their decor. Their classic waffles are delicious, and I am really impressed with their inventive low-carb waffle omelet. Simply by being themselves, they raise the bar considerably. Fantastic cocktails are available here. Plus, they’re a church-based organization, so I know they’re doing good work in the Hamburg neighborhood.”
HOLIDAY CABELA’S HOURS:
Cabela’s is typically open on most major holidays. There are, however, certain limitations on particular holidays due to the fact that store employees also need time off to be with their family. THE TOWN TAKES THE GOAT
For instance, in Buda, Texas, Cabela Hamburg the state and municipal governments borrowed $60 million to finance the construction of a Cabela’s and related infrastructure. Each of the 7,600 residents in the area could have bought a brand-new 2012 Lexus CT Hybrid for that price.
The Buda City Council even gave it’s OK for the town’s water tower to be renamed after Cabela’s instead of Buda. Still, the government’s generosity didn’t stop there. Guadalupe bass, the official state fish of Texas, were donated to the store’s huge aquarium by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission.
If lawmakers see no problem with subsidizing Cabela Hamburg and Bass Pro Shops, why do they do it? The attraction seems to stem from cultural and political factors in addition to monetary ones.
